Several summers ago (2013), I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease after undergoing a colonoscopy, and because it was difficult for me to follow the dietary restrictions for this disease, Ulcerative Colitis slowly but surely crept up on my colon as well. Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic, inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation in the digestive tract. Ulcerative colitis shares much in common with Crohn's disease <http //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
Many Crohns, Colitis, and IBD sufferers have to face the reality of Colon Cancer risks increasing for us by more than 50%. My idol, Audrey Hepburn, suffered starvation as a teenager in the Nazi-occupied Netherland. Her starvation and unusual eating patterns lead her to suffer from Colitis in her colon as well. Consequentially and very very unfortunately, Audrey suffered the death of a cancerous colon. I look up to her not only because she is my style icon and all time favorite actress, but because her strength throughout the disease and her career are more than admirable. I look at her and think to myself, “If she could do it, I can do it.” Not only is May 5 my birthday, but May 4 is her birthday. This campaign is for us- Audrey and me. Not only do I want to bring awareness to this horrifying and victimizing disease, but I would love to raise money for more research and medicine.

I'm so happy that you are doing this it is so sweet and kind. I'm happy that someone found goodness in their heart in the society today to do this.
